Team Playstyle in eFootball defines how your squad moves, presses, and transitions across the four key phases of play: defense, build-up, attack, and transition. Choosing the right playstyle allows you to maximize your team’s strengths—whether that means controlling possession with calm build-up, striking fast with counterattacks, or pushing forward with direct long balls.
A well-matched playstyle not only improves your squad’s overall effectiveness but also boosts player familiarity and chemistry, making movements sharper and more synchronized. For example, attackers will make smarter runs in a counter-attacking setup, midfielders will position better in a possession-based approach, and defenders will hold shape more effectively in a defensive-focused system.
You can assign Team Playstyles by navigating to: Main Menu → My Team → Game Plan → Tactics → Team Playstyle.
Possession Game
Compact shape, short passing, and patient build-up. Ideal for technically gifted midfields that value control over chaos.
When Attacking
Players stay tight to maximise short passing options and recycle the ball. Runs in behind are limited in favour of controlled progression.
When Defending
A high defensive line squeezes the pitch and enables coordinated pressing from the front.
After Gaining Possession
The nearest teammates provide close support to retain the ball and reset the structure.
After Losing Possession
Immediate, local pressure on the ball to win it back quickly before the opponent can break.
Quick Counter
Fast, vertical transitions and aggressive pressing. Built for pace up front and high-energy midfielders.
When Attacking
On the break, forwards and midfielders dash towards goal immediately to exploit space.
When Defending
The team holds a high line and applies strong pressure up the pitch to force turnovers.
After Gaining Possession
If the ball is won near midfield or higher, players surge forward to create a rapid counter.
After Losing Possession
Numbers swarm the ball carrier to disrupt build-up and regain momentum.
Long Ball Counter
Direct counters with runners attacking space behind the backline. Best with a target forward and speedy outlets.
When Attacking
Players spread out to open lanes for long passes. Forwards actively look to break the offside line.
When Defending
A deep defensive block protects the box and invites pressure before springing forward.
After Gaining Possession
Launch quick long balls to advanced runners; midfield supports by pushing into second-ball zones.
After Losing Possession
Retreat into a compact shape first; press triggers are conservative to maintain structure.
Out Wide
Stretch the pitch, isolate full-backs, and deliver from the flanks. Suits strong wingers and overlapping full-backs.
When Attacking
Wide players hold the touchline to create width; overlaps and early crosses are prioritised.
When Defending
Shape shifts to protect the channels; wingers drop to help full-backs against overloads.
After Gaining Possession
First pass funnels to the wings to attack open space and deliver into the box.
After Losing Possession
Wide men recover behind the ball quickly to block counters down the flanks.
Long Ball
Old-school direct play to a focal striker. Useful when you want territory quickly or to bypass heavy presses.
When Attacking
Defenders and midfielders look early for the target man; support runners attack second balls.
When Defending
The line sits a little deeper to maintain solidity and prepare for clearances and knockdowns.
After Gaining Possession
Immediate direct passes toward the striker or wide outlets to pin the opponent back.
After Losing Possession
Regroup quickly into a compact block and contest aerials and second balls.
